Sydney Royal Easter Show - Day 2 Preview

Following the biggest first day crowds in decades, it’s officially Day 2 of the 2025 Sydney Royal Easter Show (the Show) and excitement is only building!

Today is all about competitive spirit, as exhibitors and competitors bring their best to the Sydney Showground.

From the 125th anniversary of the District Exhibit Competition and the judging of the Grand Champions and Supreme Merino Awards, to the Pony Stud competition, there’s no shortage of action.

With so much to see, do, taste and experience, come and celebrate everything we love about the Show and rural Australia: farmers, food, and family fun.

125 years of the District Exhibits

Hungry to see who will ‘beet’ all other produce in the 2025 District Exhibit Competition?

This year, the Show is celebrating125 years of District Exhibits, an iconic competition that showcases more than 40,000 pieces of produce from across NSW, displayed in a unique, creative and elaborate design.

With produce from Central, Northern, Southern and Western regions grown specifically for this exhibit, it is an ‘apeeling’ display of the hard work and dedication of local farmers.

Each piece of produce will be judged across 13 categories, with the highest point recipient raking home the coveted Perpetual Shield trophy.

The exhibit runs daily from 9:00AM to 7:30PM, with the Perpetual Shield (best produce), best display, and people’s choice to be awarded set for today, 12 April at 11:00AM.

Grand Champion and Supreme Merino Awards

The pinnacle of Merino sheep judging at the Show will take place today, with the Grand Champion and Supreme Merino Awards set to be judged and announced.

Recognising the very best in Australian Merino genetics, these titles celebrate excellence in wool quality, structure, and breed standards.

Attracting top breeders from across the country, the judging is a favourite in the Show’s agricultural line-up and a great showcase of Australia’s world-class Merino industry.

Judging and announcement of the Grand Champion and Supreme Merino Awards will happen from 1:00PM in the Sheep & Wool Pavilion.

Pony Stud Book Young Judges Competition

Hold your horses - it’s time for the ultimate showdown of pony smarts and judging flair!

The brightest young equestrian minds are set to trot into the spotlight for the State Final of the Young Judges Competition.

From 11:00AM to 11:45AM in the Main Arena, watch as talented competitors assess, appraise, and articulate their way through Shetland Pony judging, all aiming to ride to victory.

With only 12 minutes to assess the ponies and then impress the judges with their expert commentary, the stakes are high.

Who will rein supreme? Come along and find out!
